Credits are used to access third-party AI models. Learn how the credit system works and how to manage your usage.
How Credits Work
Gab AI uses a credit-based system for accessing third-party AI models like GPT-5.6, Claude, and Gemini. Credits allow you to pay only for what you use while getting access to the best models available.
API model "auto" has no price of its own. You are billed for the resolved slug. A 40-turn Cursor loop is 40 requests against the daily rate-limit budget even though Auto classified once.
Default AI is Free in the App
Our default AI model is free for Plus subscribers when chatting in Gab AI. Not included in API — API requests always use credits.
Monthly Credits with Plus
Plus subscribers receive 2,000 credits every month as part of their subscription. This is typically enough for:
Monthly credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Unused credits do not roll over to the next month.

Credit Costs by Model
Different models use different amounts of credits based on their capabilities:
Text Models (per message, fresh chat)
Arya (default) — Free with Plus in-app · 1 credit on Free
Credit costs can vary based on message length, image quality settings, and other factors. The ranges shown are typical usage per request.
Context Multiplier
Credit costs scale with the amount of context a model processes. As a conversation grows, the model has more history to consider, so a context multiplier can increase the cost of each message. The amount varies by model and conversation.
Start new chats for unrelated questions or topics
Use chat history to save important conversations you might reference later
Keep individual chats focused on a single task or topic
Check model cards for base prices and monitor your usage in Settings → Credits
Best Practice: Start Fresh Chats
Start a new chat when switching topics or beginning a new task. This reduces the conversation history the model needs to process and can help keep credit costs lower. You can always return to previous conversations when needed.
Buying More Credits
If you need more credits than your monthly allowance, you can purchase additional credit packs. Purchased credits never expire.

Share your referral link from Settings → Referrals. When a friend you invite upgrades to Plus, you both receive 250 credits. You can earn from up to 25 referrals.
Auto Top-Up
Never run out of credits mid-conversation. Auto Top-Up automatically purchases credits when your balance gets low, ensuring uninterrupted access to premium AI models.
Configure Auto Top-Up in Settings → Credits. You can customize:
You'll receive an email notification each time Auto Top-Up is triggered. You can disable Auto Top-Up at any time in your settings. It will also automatically disable after 3 consecutive payment failures.
Credit threshold—when to trigger a purchase (e.g., below 500 credits)
Credit pack—which pack to automatically purchase
Monthly limit—cap your auto-spending (up to $3,000/month, or no limit)

When Auto Top-Up Triggers
Auto Top-Up is enabled

Rate Limited
Auto Top-Up is limited to once every 24 hours to prevent unexpected charges. The system checks your balance every 10 minutes, so top-ups happen automatically when needed without constant monitoring.
